Official pictures! I made these for my sister's wedding in May, though they look slightly better from a lower angle than this. It was harder than I thought it would be to keep finger-divots from getting everywhere. Fun, though!

Some other sketches that I scanned to color on for warmup and value practice. Still trying to get used to Painter, but it's hard to resist the urge to go back to simple, comfortable SAI.

As usual with warmup stuff I was too lazy to do any tedious bits. Must get better about this. Maybe I'll update in the morning.

That isn't really news to anybody, though. This is a tabletop character for a Star Wars game, drawn after two shots of whiskey. Still gotta work on the tattoo designs. For some reason I'm always compelled to put the little denim-style pointy pockets on all varieties of pants. Guh.

I signed up for a trade on Livejournal a while back, and after the drawings were in the character's owner asked me for a matching portrait of another guy. So here they are. The second one wasn't so great. I hate leather jackets.

Based on this for the Unit-16 Character Trade. Yeaaaaah I dunno. XD

The more I look at the stuff in my last post the more disappointed I am with it. I had such a hard time finding free time to work on it that I finally set myself a hard deadline and stayed up all night to meet it, and then when it hit, I stopped, even though it was too soon. As a result, a lot of the final finishing touches didn't get done - edges on planks of wood, hinges, grime, etc - and I made a few last-second changes to the UVs and the relative scale of various bits of the mesh that, upon reflection, were Very Bad Ideas. The doorway looks all bloated and lopsided now.

Learning experience, though. It's been a long time since I hand-painted textures like that, and I'd never modeled both the inside and outside of a building.

So this was a quick and crappy one, but that's what this thing is for, right? The unit16 character trade caught me on a busy weekend and I only had a couple hours.

This was one a couple weeks ago. My laptop was out of batteries so I tried watercolor. Bad idea. XD
